While the pandemic continues to pose a risk on the employment front, some companies are starting to hire again. As a leading employer with more than 3,000 employees, Wavestone is part of that positive trend. After having frozen recruitment for the first half of its fiscal year(1), the firm plans to recruit nearly 400 permanent consultants and 300 interns/work-study apprentices by the end of March 2021. All the recruitments will be in the fields of cybersecurity, IT, data, emerging technologies, energy/transport, supply chain, manufacturing, and public service. Those seeking an internship or a work-study program can apply to any of the firm's business lines.
Opportunities to be seized in the most buoyant sectors in France and abroad
After freezing recruitment at the height of the pandemic, Wavestone has gradually resumed hiring since September.
The firm is tapping the dynamism of the most buoyant sectors and fields—in line with current major issues—and in which there is a need for recruitment in France (Paris and Nantes), as well as in the United States, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Hong Kong.
More than 400 permanent consultants and 300 interns/work-study apprentices will be recruited between now and March 2021. The firm intends to leverage its employee referrals policy and the involvement of nearly 1,000 employees in recruitment initiatives (interviews, school partnerships, etc.) to make that ambition a reality.
These opportunities are open to graduates of engineering schools, business schools, and universities (5-year degrees) with a strong technological bent, and who share the firm's fundamental values: boldness, team spirit, exemplariness, and passion.
Starting in January, the firm plans to recruit students for internships or work-study programs.
For Caroline Attané, Recruitment Manager at Wavestone: “All the internships at the firm are traditionally presumed to be a step on the way to a job offer, although it did not work out that way this year because of the pandemic. To date, nearly 80 former trainees have chosen to continue their adventure with us and have joined Wavestone on permanent contracts.”
A recruitment scheme adapted to COVID-19
The current context—with remote working tending to become the norm—has led the firm to reinvent its recruitment processes. To that end, job interviews are now carried out 100% remotely, as indeed is the integration of new recruits. The first few weeks at Wavestone are well paced: presentation workshops, introductions to the firm's tools and systems, training sessions alone or in small groups in Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) format, with a specific sequence on best practices for remote working, and regular check-ins with the new employee's managers. And let's not forget several ingenious initiatives created by the firm or the employees themselves to keep communication channels open, such as:
- “Wavestone go”: employees who wish to take part can put their name in a virtual hat. Every Monday, the software randomly selects a partner for each employee to join for an “e-coffee break,” regardless of entity or managerial level.
- “Moodboard”: an application developed to let managers take their employees' temperature (in the figurative sense) based on the following criteria: workload, stress, energy, pleasure at work, and so on.
For Rémi Taniwaki, Senior Manager at Wavestone: “These tools—and many others like them set up by our employees themselves—demonstrate our teams' spirit of initiative and commitment. They had no hesitation in developing and proposing new ways to stay connected to keep the life and culture of Wavestone vibrant, even with everybody working remotely.”
