As the new edition of the Happy Trainees Awards is unveiled, the consulting firm Wavestone is ranked 8th among great companies to carry out an internship, with nearly 90% of positive feedback. Created by ChooseMyCompany.com, this independent label values companies that take care of welcoming, supporting and managing their interns. This year, more than 300 interns in consulting, cross-functional and commercial roles were invited to give their opinion on their satisfaction and professional development within Wavestone. They highlighted strong points of satisfaction and areas for improvement that feed the firm's approach to integrating and supporting students. Based on this ranking, Wavestone plans to recruit more than 200 interns this year, both in France and abroad.
Individualized support
Wavestone pays particular attention to the proper integration and regular follow-up of interns upon their arrival. Each person is supported not only by HR, but also by his or her project managers and a “Career Development Manager”: a dedicated proximity manager, who follows their career path within the firm. The objective is to guide employees in discovering and learning about their profession, in particular by varying the assignments.
Throughout the internship, the organization of regular meetings is an opportunity to discuss projects carried out, skills developed and areas of progress. 82% of respondents say they appreciate this feedback from their managers because it gives them “the means to progress through transparent and constructive feedback”.
A formative experience with real responsibilities
The interns interviewed appreciate the opportunity to work on innovative subjects, not only through client assignments and internal projects but also through the subject of their internship. The opportunity to work on current and directly applicable issues allows them to “be intellectually stimulated and thrive in a profession where reflection is the driving force behind action”.
To promote a fast rise in skills, Wavestone encourages the autonomy of its interns. Within the framework of a relationship of trust with their management, they are soon brought to be in direct contact with decision-makers and contribute concrete added value to their assignments, in the same way as any employee on a permanent contract. 86% of respondents thus consider that they are trusted and 87% consider their time at Wavestone to be an important step in their career.
200 internships to be filled
Wavestone encourages end-of-study work experience in a pre-employment context, with the aim of recruiting at least 70% of interns on permanent contracts at the end of their studies.
