Background

Wavestone UK was engaged by the Information Security Awareness and Culture manager of a FTSE250 listed investment firm to arrange a cybersecurity awareness day for an offsite event. The brief for the day was deliver a fun, engaging and informative series of presentations and activities for the client focussed on changing and improving perceptions of cybersecurity for the audience.

What did Wavestone deliver?

Wavestone orchestrated a programme of events for the client involving seminars on topics such as the future of cybersecurity and potential threats to emerging technologies, social engineering and cyber crisis management. This was followed by an open forum session of demonstrations including our Lego Connected Bank and WiFi Hacking demos, along with cybersecurity focussed escape games to add some interactive and unconventional elements to the event.

Results

The key benefit of gamifying a portion of the content we presented was the ability to deliver cybersecurity training to individuals in non-security focussed roles without the activity feeling like “just another training session”. The feedback received on the event was very positive across the board with our key stakeholder remarking,

“I thought the afternoon escape room games were excellent – really well thought out and executed. Everyone was very engaged and impressed with them” which matches the overall aim of the session.”
