Supporting Deployment of Collaboration Tools for Major Multinational Bank

A major financial bank with offices on a global scale and strong French presence reached out to Wavestone to support their digital workplace deployments, implementation, and user adoption of new tools across their global estate. Many companies were struggling to prepare their workforce to adapt to digital change and adopt new digital tools and processes. With such a global scale and with the user at the centre of their transformation, this bank faced a significant challenge.

How did Wavestone help?

Wavestone was tasked with addressing the lack of centralised governance and processes required to successful ramp-up as various tools were deployed globally. Wavestone used a 360-degree approach to manage the programme, acting as the central cog of the complex organisational structure used to bring together several functions and stakeholders. This enabled cross-functional collaboration and communication structures developed to empower users.

The team proposed a continuous and sustainable approach to delivery based on Agile methodologies, where users were central to all activities and were the drivers for key requirements. This entailed an amalgamation of training, persona creation, and the establishment of key target users for specific deployments.

The Team

Wavestone’s presence grew from an initial small team deployed for a knowledge capturing exercise to 10 consultants that operated as a special unit supporting digital transformation across the business. The consultants were strategically placed in a variety of business lines supporting:

  • Communications
  • Project Management
  • Training & Development

This embodied the vision of 360-degree transformation and enabled a long-term presence with the client, which resulted in a partnership based on trust.

The presence of Wavestone helped the various client teams to improve communication and transparency between them by breaking down silos and aligning them on common goals. The team worked jointly with the client on Agile ceremonies and SAFe implementations to deliver truly flexible and targeted benefits.

Wavestone supported delivery on the ground while also collaborating with senior stakeholders to shape the digital workplace vision and strategy.

The Results

The long-term partnership developed between Wavestone and the client meant decisions were thoroughly discussed and challenged before commitments were made, with sustainability and long-term value-add forming the core lever in decision making.

“Epic governance has really made it possible to take into account the business need, and to ensure that it is listened to. This was not at all the case previously.”
